Politics of remembrance/preventing antisemitism

The period of National Socialism and the Holocaust has shaped Europe's cultural memory. Today, a critical engagement with the crime against humanity which was the Holocaust, the power structures of the Nazis as well as the memory of the resistance and of those who helped the victims of persecution are part of Austria's identity.
In addition to the mass media, museums and memorials, the Austrian education system also has a special role to play in the socio-political discussion of this issue.
Through its Holocaust Education Institute (_erinnern.at_), the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research promotes the proper consideration of the period of National Socialism in Austrian schools. At the same time, _erinnern.at_ makes significant contributions to educational work critical of antisemitism.
