Genetic engineering

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) is entrusted with enforcing the Genetic Engineering Act. It is therefore the authority responsible for work involving genetically modified organisms – to the extent that this work is done at scientific universities or at scientific institutions of the Federal Government within the BMBWF’s remit or is performed by these entities. The primary responsibility for genetic engineering is borne by the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK)
