School information

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research’s school information service offers qualified, low-threshold advice and information in the following areas:

1. School/education advice

Including questions about:

  • Starting compulsory school (transition from kindergarten to primary school)
  • Education pathways after primary school
  • Education pathways after new secondary school or the lower cycle of academic secondary school
  • Changing school (type, form or subject bias)
  • Compulsory education and training up to 18 in the context of school courses
  • Education pathways after Matura
  •  Examinations for external candidates

2. Individual advice on day-to-day problems at school

Including questions about:

  • Poor performance in the first or second semester
  • Advice or support services from the School Psychology Service or other psychosocial experts
  • Other specialist sources of information in the area of schooling

3. Information about school legislation

The aim is to highlight solution-orientated perspectives and eliminate information gaps.

Enquirers are referred to other agencies if there is a need for further advice or diagnosis.

The advice provided by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research’s school information service is particularly aimed at pupils in all grades, parents and teaching staff and is free to use.
