All the mobility programmes in the fields of education, science and research have the aim of communicating Austria's cultural and scientific achievements abroad; in addition, this academic and cultural exchange has numerous repercussions for Austrian education and higher education. Austrian policy also supports the Republic’s economic interests through international mobility programmes, thus creating valuable synergies. The principle of lifelong learning serves as a reference framework for all mobility programmes. Cross-border mobility contributes to the promotion of global learning, it creates an openness to diversity and the rest of the world and it also promotes multilingualism. Dialogue with internationally competitive individuals is of central importance to Austria as a business location. Without this dialogue, Austria loses its connection to innovative pioneers.
